Spooky Halloween Writing Prompts for Kids (FREE PRINTABLE)

Halloween is a great time of year to encourage the kids to write creatively! Including Halloween writing prompts in your homeschool activities is a fun way to inspire children, encouraging them to let their imaginations run wild with tales of mischievous spirits and eerie adventures!

I’ve always been a fan of all things spooky. Ghost tours of historic buildings? A night in to watch the latest paranormal movie or tv show? A (daylight) walk around a cemetery to discover unique epitaphs chiseled into monuments from many years past? Count me in!

It’s no wonder my kids have followed in my footsteps!

Every year, when we’re nearing Halloween, I always make sure to include a number of spooky, but educational, activities in our homeschool days. We’ll include activities like reading Halloween-themed books and coloring in Halloween-themed bookmarks along with making spooky treats together in the kitchen!

Today, I’m sharing some spooky Halloween writing prompts as well as a free printable for Halloween-themed lined paper! The paper is perfect for completing the writing prompts, everyday assignments, and even for stocking your letter writing station at home!

Why Use Halloween Writing Prompts?

Including Halloween writing prompts in your homeschool can encourage creativity and help kids think outside the box and inspire imaginative storytelling. When given a prompt about a mysterious haunted house or a funny witch, children can let their imaginations run wild, creating unique stories that reflect their creativity.

In addition, when kids complete Halloween writing prompts, they’re given the opportunity to strengthen their writing skills in a fun way!

There are plenty of boring writing prompts out there (not on my blog, though! just saying!). Why have the kids complete standard writing prompts when there are plenty of exciting prompt options available?!
