Description

If you’re looking for a fun way to get your students writing and thinking creatively, this set of National Days to Celebrate in January writing prompts could be just the thing for your elementary-age classroom or homeschool!

Standard writing prompts & bell ringers can get boring fast. The kids don’t want to do them, teachers don’t want to read them…ugh. These National Days to Celebrate in January writing prompts are a great option because they’re fun, they’re relevant, and they encourage creative writing and critical thinking. Score!

As a homeschool mom, I typically let my kids complete these National Days to Celebrate in January writing prompts as the first task on their daily homeschool schedule. Starting the day off with a fun activity, in which there are really no right or “wrong” answers, gets them excited for their day and gets us started on the right foot. Since this printable set includes prompts for the entire month, the National Days to Celebrate writing prompts are a print and go, “set it and forget it” activity because I print out an entire month’s worth of prompts at a time. This saves me a TON of time!

NEW UPDATES

This set of January writing prompts is updated from our original set! Some of my favorite updates include:

the change from full color printables to black/white only. You shouldn’t have to worry about using up ink on your printables, so this change was made in an effort to save you stress & money!

“Name” is no longer included at the top of each prompt. This set is designed to be printed and stapled into a packet, so having “name” at the top of each page is just a waste of ink and space.

removal of images. Yes, this set no longer includes images related to each prompt. I did this to encourage kids to use books or search engines to find an image related to the writing prompt if needed/wanted. Switching to text-only prompts also…you guessed it…saves you on ink usage!
