That’s why I put together these summer skip counting puzzles. I hope they bring some extra joy and make your homeschool routines a bit easier, whether you’re teaching one child or a whole crew.

What’s Skip Counting?
Have you ever counted in twos or fives? That’s called skip counting. It’s one of those skills most kids pick up early on, even if they don’t realize there’s a name for it.
When children start learning about skip counting, they usually begin with 2s, 5s, and 10s. Once those start to feel easy, it’s time to try bigger jumps like 3s, 7s, or even 4s. Progress comes with practice, and it can actually be pretty fun to see how quickly the numbers add up.

Skip counting is more useful than it might sound at first. It helps kids spot patterns in numbers. That’s a big step toward understanding multiplication and division later on. It also makes counting larger groups much quicker, which builds confidence and keeps things moving in math class.
This skill shows up outside of school, too. Anytime you look at a clock or count change, you’re using skip counting. It’s one of those little tricks that makes everyday math just a bit easier. If your child is learning this right now, try practicing together—make it a game and see how high you can go.

Summer Skip Counting Puzzles
I always try to keep my homeschool printables as easy to use as possible. Homeschool parents already have a lot going on, so who has time to spend hours getting printables ready? I sure don’t. I want resources that are simple to prep and quick to print, because that means more time for learning and less time fussing with supplies. If you feel the same, you’re in the right place.
That being said, my Summer Skip Counting Puzzles require hardly any preparation on your part. Yay!
To complete the activity, you’ll only need a few supplies:
- printer: color ink is not required for this project
- cardstock paper: you could totally use standard printer paper, but, since this is an interactive activity, the cardstock will help you get the most life out of the completed printable
- coloring tools: since I recommend laminating this puzzle for extra durability, I certainly suggest having the kids use markers or colored pencils. Crayon may melt during the lamination project.
- scissors
- laminator & lamination sheets: completely optional, but I find a laminator & lamination sheets to come in handy while homeschooling!
- Something for storage: It’s my hope that the kids will play with these puzzles multiple times, so it’s helpful to have a place to store them! I like using these reusable mesh zip bags for our hands-on printables, puzzles, games, and more.

If your kids are just starting with skip counting or are already getting the hang of multiplication and division, you’ll love my Summer Skip Counting Puzzles! They’re not your average 2s, 5s, and 10s sets. I went a step further and put together three different summer-themed puzzles for each number from 1 to 12.
Pretty cool, right?
These puzzles make learning numbers feel more like a fun challenge than a chore. Whether your child is practicing early math or trying to get quicker at counting, you’ll find these sets helpful. Plus, the summer theme adds a little extra excitement. Give them a try and see how much your kids enjoy this new way to work on their math skills!
This is usually the part of the article where I’d show you how to put these summer skip counting puzzles together. You know what, though? We’re in the middle of moving to Florida, so I don’t have access to my printer to print them out!
Instead, I totally suggest checking out my other skip counting puzzle articles – they have the step-by-step instructions complete with photos! (or don’t…they’re pretty easy to figure out, I’m just especially proud of my fun instructional photos).
