We all know about the usual national holidays in June, but have you ever thought about the quirky and unique national days to celebrate in June? For those of us homeschooling, these special days offer a fun chance to spark creativity and inspire a love for learning & literacy!

Why Include National Days to Celebrate in June?

Every June, we celebrate holidays such as Juneteenth, Father’s Day and even the first day of summer! You likely already have planned on spending some time preparing for those holidays…why add more to your plate?

Nowadays, it’s great to have a little joy sprinkled into each day, especially with the kids. With so much negativity around, finding a positive reason to celebrate feels like a breath of fresh air.

Why not spice up your homeschool routine by incorporating National Days to Celebrate in June? It adds fun, brings smiles, and provides some unexpected educational perks.

Besides, if there’s an opportunity to celebrate fun holidays like National Chocolate Ice Cream Day (June 7) and National Color TV Day (June 25), you can could me – and my kids – definitely “in!”

How to Celebrate the National Days?

Each year, there are tons of National Days just waiting to be enjoyed. But let’s face it, fitting them all into our busy lives isn’t possible.

No need to stress, though! I’ve combed through the internet to find the best kid-friendly National Days to celebrate throughout June and beyond. I’ve put together a handy list, along with free resources to help you enjoy festivities all year long.

National Days to Celebrate in June Writing Prompts

Homeschoolers often have mixed feelings about writing prompts, don’t they? Many parents view them as little more than busywork, lacking true educational value.

I see it differently. When I design writing prompts, I aim to ignite kids’ imagination, encourage them to explore topics deeply, and make them eager for their daily writing sessions.

While I can’t guarantee every task will be the best thing since sliced bread, I can share that my boys always look forward to my themed prompts because they either end up learning some interesting & fun facts or because they end up giggling…a lot!

Each morning, I love starting our homeschool day with writing prompts. Kicking off with something fun and free from the pressure of right or wrong answers really boosts their enthusiasm for the rest of their homeschool lessons.

I’ve also created a printable set of prompts for the entire month, making things super convenient. I print them all at once, and just like that, we’re set, turning it into a smooth part of our routine.

The free National Days to Celebrate in June writing prompt set includes the following:

• an entire month’s worth of daily writing prompts
  • each page is dated by the month number date (ex. “June 1”), but not the day of the week, so this resource can be used for ANY calendar year.
• 9 “national month” writing prompts
  • just in case you come across a national day writing prompt that you’re not jiving with, there are 9 for backup! These are NOT dated, but are month specific

National Days to Celebrate in June Conversation Cards

I love mixing up learning experiences whenever I can. Back when I was teaching, I noticed that many of my students found writing to be a struggle. Some had a tough time with the actual writing, while others got stuck at different stages of the process.

You know what? Even if a student can’t complete a writing assignment, it doesn’t mean they can’t join in. Everyone deserves to learn and have fun!

This led me to create an alternative to my June writing prompts: National Days to Celebrate in June Conversation Cards!

These cards focus more on talking than writing, perfect for families who find writing difficult, lack the tools while traveling, or just want to enjoy more conversations and create lasting memories.

Like the June writing prompts, each card provides a daily prompt for June, touching on the nine National Month themes.
