15 Punny Coloring Pages for Mother’s Day 2026 (free printables!)

punny mothers day coloring pages from that homeschool family

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, what better way to celebrate than with some punny coloring pages for Mother’s Day?

As a mom of two sweet boys, I know I certainly appreciate the handmade gifts way more than the store bought gifts. I mean, I wouldn’t turn down a pair of diamond earrings or an all-inclusive weekend getaway (a mom can dream, can’t she?), but…the sweet scribbles from my kids are the gifts that are typically awarded a spot in the coveted “top drawer of my nightstand” spot where I keep the hard copies of wonderful memories.

The same goes for Father’s Day – my husband is always proud to be the recipient of a handmade gift from the boys! So, while there will always be the option of store bought gifts, handmade just seems to be “the way to go” in our family!

(Also – I’m not about to make this article about dad, but might as well check out the Punny Father’s Day coloring pages soon, too!)

I foresee Mother’s Day 2025 as being a pretty chill day for our family. I’m usually treated to a homemade breakfast of pancakes or waffles before enjoying some family fun together…usually some time planting in the garden and maybe even a drive around town to visit some antique stores in search of the next addition to my novice collection of Wheaton Glass or maybe even some vintage Beatles memorabilia!

I’m also hoping my husband might see this article I’ve written & print out a few of the coloring pages for Mother’s Day! (You, too? Might as well just send him the link with a little *wink wink, nudge nudge* text!)

Anyways, let’s keep this moving, shall we? First, I’m going to share some tips for these punny Mother’s Day coloring pages and then you’ll have the opportunity to snag the PDF with 15 (!!) different options of coloring pages for Mother’s Day…and beyond!

One More Thing…

Before we get into all the details, I feel it’s important to note: the coloring pages I’m sharing with you today aren’t ONLY for Mother’s Day 2025. Yes, they all have a funny pun that could be considered a Mother’s Day pun, but the coloring pages can be used for any occasion celebrating mom because they don’t have the phrase “Happy Mother’s Day” on them!

So, even if you did happen upon this super amazing resource (I’m just being honest), consider tucking away the link so you have it handy when celebrating occasions like:

Benefits of Coloring Pages for Mother’s Day

Did you know there are actually benefits to coloring?! If you had asked me a few years ago to name the benefits of coloring a coloring page or two, I don’t know that I really would’ve had an actual answer for you. I mean, I knew it could help relieve a bit of stress just by enjoying a quiet moment with some art supplies, but…beyond that? I never really thought of it.

There are quiet a few benefits to coloring, especially when completing some coloring pages for Mother’s Day or even our cute Mother’s Day flower craft!

Developing Fine Motor Skills

Coloring is a great way for kids to strengthen the small muscles in their hands, fingers, and wrists. These skills are important for things like writing, typing, and cutting with scissors.

Improving Hand-Eye Coordination

Sure, coloring outside the lines can be fun, but when kids work on staying within the lines, they’re actually boosting their hand-eye coordination a lot!

Concentration and Focus

Coloring gives kids a chance to stay focused as they work to transform a plain, black-and-white page into something colorful and detailed. It’s a simple activity that helps build attention and concentration—skills that come in handy for completing assignments and everyday tasks.

Creativity and Self-Expression

Who says the sun has to be yellow or a frog has to be green? Coloring pages let kids get creative and try out their own ideas with colors and designs. It’s a fun way for them to express themselves. Who knows? You might just have a future fashion designer or interior decorator in the house!

Color Recognition

Coloring is a great way for kids to start identifying and telling colors apart. Begin with a basic pack of 8 crayons, then gradually upgrade to larger sets—some even have tons of shades like 20 versions of blue (okay, that might be a slight exaggeration).

Want to make it more fun? Take your kids along next time you’re picking out paint colors for the house. Who knows, they might have some creative ideas for the walls!

Emotional Development

Coloring isn’t just fun—it’s calming too. It gives kids a chance to relax and work through emotions, often helping to ease stress and anxiety.

So, grab some crayons, markers, or colored pencils, and let them enjoy this soothing activity while they build emotional skills.

Problem-Solving Skills

How do kids decide which colors to use on their Mother’s Day coloring pages? It’s all about problem-solving! These skills go way beyond picking crayons, though. Problem-solving helps kids learn to make decisions and think about their choices.

Side note: I’m still waiting to see these skills show up when it’s time to unload the clothes dryer. #facepalm

Confidence and Self-Esteem

Finishing a coloring page gives kids a real sense of pride. That little boost in confidence can inspire them to tackle bigger challenges next time.

Now picture this: mom’s big smile when she gets a hand-colored masterpiece for Mother’s Day. That’s a win for everyone!
