Fall is one of my favorite seasons! Now that we’re living in Florida, we won’t get to see much of fall, but at least I’ll always have memories of the gorgeous fall leaves and the relief of cooling temperatures.

With those cooling temperatures comes the urge to snuggle up in a cozy chair, with a warm blanket and a new-to-us book. Now that my kids are middle-school age, I’m not reading to them as much as I did when they were tiny, but…that just gives them more of a reason to use some fun, seasonal bookmarks to mark the place in their current chapter book.

To encourage my kids (and yours!) to read in the fall season, I created a set of fun, printable fall coloring bookmarks. Did I mention they’re also free?!

click here to learn about, and request access to, our ever-growing collection of free printables! The Printable Playground: Where homeschooling is fun and the printables are free!

They come as a PDF with 2 pages of bookmarks, each page with a total of 4 bookmarks.

Within the PDF, you’ll find bookmarks with the following themes:

  • “Pumpkin Spice and books so nice!” with a cute pumpkin background
  • pumpkin pie
  • “autumn” with pumpkins and leaves to color in
  • cozy fall attire like boots, blankets, and scarves
  • “Happy Fall” with leaves in the background
  • “Life is Gourd” with different pumpkins in the background (love a good pun!)
  • “Fall into a great book!” with leaves in the background
  • “Autumn leaves and pumpkins, please!” with leaves and pumpkins in the background

To get the most out of the bookmarks, here’s some tips:

  • print at home: we bought our Epson Eco-Tank a few years ago and it’s an absolute workhorse of a printer. The ink lasts an amazingly long time! It definitely one of my favorite homeschooling items.
  • print on cardstock: while standard printer paper would work just fine, if you print on cardstock, the bookmarks will be sturdy & likely last longer!
  • laminate for extra durability: to help the bookmarks last even longer, consider laminating them after the kids have colored in the designs. Since many laminators use a heat process, I also suggest avoiding coloring the bookmarks with crayons &, instead, using colored pencils or markers.
