Adorable Christmas Skip Counting Puzzles

What’s Skip Counting?
Ever tried counting in twos or fives instead of one by one? That’s called skip counting!
When kids first learn skip counting, they usually start with 2s, 5s, and 10s. Once they get the hang of it, they move on to numbers like 3s, 7s, or other steps.
This skill is super useful. It helps kids spot number patterns and builds a strong foundation for multiplication and division. Plus, it makes counting larger numbers faster and easier, giving them more confidence with math.
Skip counting isn’t just for “school”—it’s handy in everyday life too. Think about telling time, counting coins, or dividing things into groups. It’s a simple skill with big benefits!
Homeschool Christmas Activities
I totally get that homeschooling in December can be super hectic! After celebrating Thanksgiving in November, and Halloween in October, I’m usually pretty exhausted by the time the Christmas festivities roll around. At that point in time, we’re totally ready for a break and we tend to take a break from our typical lessons and, instead, do some “Christmas-schooling.”
In addition to learning about Christmas throughout the month of December, you could also consider including some other topics into your lesson plans like:
- Kwanzaa (check out the Kwanzaa bookmarks in the Printable Playground!)
- Hanukkah (Hanukkah bookmarks are in the Printable Playground, too!)
- National Days in December
- hibernating animals
- snowflakes
- gratitude
- Winter Solstice
- Pearl Harbor
- Baking (as in, baking Christmas cookies!)
There are so many options! Whether you choose to include them or not…whatever works for you and your family! I could go on and on about magical ways to celebrate the Christmas season!

Christmas Skip Counting Printables
I’m all about making my homeschool printables as low prep as possible. Homeschool parents are busy enough already – who wants to spend hours preparing printables? Um, not me.
That being said, my Christmas Skip Counting Puzzles require hardly any preparation on your part. Yay!
To complete the activity, you’ll only need a few supplies:
- printer: color ink is not required for this project
- cardstock paper: you could totally use standard printer paper, but, since this is an interactive activity, the cardstock will help you get the most life out of the completed printable
- coloring tools: since I recommend laminating this puzzle for extra durability, I certainly suggest having the kids use markers or colored pencils. Crayon may melt during the lamination project.
- scissors
- laminator & lamination sheets: completely optional, but I find a laminator & lamination sheets to come in handy while homeschooling!
- Something for storage: It’s my hope that the kids will play with these puzzles multiple times, so it’s helpful to have a place to store them! I like using these reusable mesh zip bags for our hands-on printables, puzzles, games, and more.

In addition, I know that I have a readers that are secular and readers that practice a certain faith. You should know that these Christmas Skip Counting Puzzles are more of a “cute” representative of Christmas and do not contain religious images.
The kids are gonna love ’em!
Putting the Christmas Skip Counting Puzzles Together
Step by step directions can be super helpful when completing a hands-on project, right? Here’s how to set up the puzzles:
- Print out the preferred Skip Counting Puzzles. The PDF file has a helpful “find it fast” page in the beginning to help you find specific skip counting number sets.
- Have the kids color in the image on the puzzles. Yay for combining art & math!
- Laminate the completed puzzle.
- Cut out the puzzle and then cut it into strips.
- Mix up the pieces and have the kids put it back together again! This will help them work on skip counting and figuring out how puzzles/broken images go back together!
