Learning About Bald Eagles
The bald eagle is more than just a bird; it’s an icon. Known for its commanding presence and sharp features, this majestic creature has fascinated people for centuries.
We all know how beautiful bald eagles are, but how do we even go about including a study on bald eagles? Besides the activity packet, where do we find information on them?
Don’t worry – I gotchu!

Online Resources
There are many online resources out there that can be helpful when learning about bald eagles. When the kids are completing their bald eagle activity packet, they may find the following websites to be helpful:
- National Geographic Kids: This site is great for learning about all things animals & geography!
- U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service: They even have a live eagle nest cam!
- National Eagle Center: If you’re open to a bit of educational travel, a visit to the National Eagle Center could be really neat! They have a bunch of eagle information on their site, too!
Now that we’ve got a few quality resources we can rely on, how can we incorporate learning about bald eagles in our homeschool days? I mean, we could always “just” include some activities just for the heck of it but wouldn’t it be more fun to have them be part of a bigger picture?
Mmmhmm…I gotchu again!

Incorporating Bald Eagle Activities
Now, I am all for learning about a certain animal or such just because one of my kids has an interest. Even as a teacher, I would do my best to incorporate topics of interest to encourage my students to grow their love of learning.
Sidenote: When I was teaching a self-contained autism classroom, one of my students had a profound love of SpongeBob Square Pants so, you know there was a lot of yellow and under-the-sea theming going on with his activities! I love that I get to do the same for my own kids as a homeschool mom now.
As you’re planning out your homeschool activities, here are some fun ways to incorporate my bald eagle printables into your days:
- Save the Eagles Day: This National Day is just one of the many kid-friendly National Days to Celebrate in January!
- United States Study: Whether you’re learning about the presidents, doing individual state studies, learning about U.S. Elections, working on some general U.S. history or geography lessons, studying the United States symbols, or even celebrating the 4th of July, you could totally include my bald eagle activity packet into the mix!
- Football Season: Ok, this one is a stretch but…”fly Eagles fly!” Learn about actual bald eagles while learning about the Philadelphia Eagles football team!
- Birds: Maybe the kids are learning about all sorts of feathered friends?
- Endangered Species: Bald eagles were once endangered, but no longer are! Take a moment to learn about conservation efforts past and present & include a bald eagle activity while you’re at it!
- Visiting the Zoo: Might as well learn about bald eagles before visiting the zoo and seeing them in person, right? They’re so gorgeous!
