About That Homeschool Family!

At the Happiest Place on Earth!
We love Disney and love traveling!

Hey there! Welcome to our little corner of the internet! We’re That Homeschool Family and we’re so glad you stopped by! I’m Elizabeth and you can see the rest of my little family in the photo to the left. Go ahead, take a look…I’ll just take a sip of coffee while I wait.

Now, I may be the one behind the keyboard, but really, this blog is about our entire family, so let’s get to the introductions, shall we?

In a nutshell, I’m a veteran special education teacher turned homeschooling & blogging mom. My husband is a numbers guy and works in finance (read: a very boring topic of conversation for me unless we’re talking about finance in terms of shopping). The boys? They’re pretty awesome. I mean, they come with their fair share of skinned knees, arguments about video games, and reminders that they need to wear clothes to go outside, but, for the most part, they’re pretty awesome.

Christmas is our FAVORITE time of year!

As a family, we’ve lived in 2 states so far: New Jersey and Florida. I grew up in South Jersey, my husband grew up in Philly and then, when we got married, we decided we were done dealing with the cold weather and moved to Florida! Whoa! Well, 5 years later, we moved back up to New Jersey and are now raising the boys in the town I where I grew up. Wild, right?! Who knows where we’ll end up in the future, but, for now, we’re pretty happy living in the land of wooder, pork roll, cheesesteaks, and wooder ice. I really love this area. I’ve heard people say New Jersey is the armpit of the nation, but…we’re an hour away from my favorite beach town of Ocean City, a quick drive across the bridge to historic Philadelphia, and we grow some pretty sweet tomatoes, corn, and peaches in our gardens, so….I’m thinking other states just must not know how awesome New Jersey can be!

Food is a passion of mine! Growing up, I wanted to be either a teacher or a chef. Teaching won for the degree, but I’m a pretty sweet cook if I do say so myself! I enjoy trying new foods and could legit spend days watching cooking shows on tv. Crab and a medium steak are two of my favorite foods, but I’m just as happy enjoying a delicious pizza (how do you feel about Hawaiian pizza? Yum!!) on movie night with the family. I’m super thankful that our entire family is pretty adventurous with trying new foods. Even better? My oldest son talks about becoming a chef one day!

What else about me? I love music – let me listen to The Beatles and I’ll be the happiest person ever! Before we had the kids, my husband and I went on a dream-come-true vacation to London and Liverpool that I can only hope we can recreate with our kids in the future.

The beach and Walt Disney World are two of our happy places. Have you ever been in an ocean on the Gulf Coast? Not only is it gorgeous, but the water is *so* warm. (Honeymoon Island is fabulous!) I’ve been to Disney World a bunch of times and, while I enjoyed going pre-kids, I feel like visiting with kids is even better! It’s such a magical place and it’s so amazing to see my kids enjoy the wonder of Disney World. I’ve been to Disneyland once, but am hoping to visit again soon because I *need* to experience their Marvel area. #imissironman Did I mention that we’re totally a Marvel Avengers family? Because we totally are.

Have you tried LeFou’s Brew in
Disney World? SO delicious! Beauty & the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies, too!

I love crafting, shopping, spending time with family, watching movies, and…obviously…being on social media. Social Media Marketing is a passion of mine – it changes all the time, but I just love being able to connect with people near and far from the comfort of my own home.

So, why did I start this blog? Really, why not? This blog was started after I made the decision to pivot from writing another blog in 2020 (oy vey, 2020). Since both learning and teaching have been such a prominent feature in my entire life, I figured I might as well start a blog to share our experiences as a homeschooling family…more specifically…That Homeschool Family!

In addition to this website That Homeschool Family is on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest! We’ve got a pretty sweet e-newsletter you could sign up for or even feel free to send me an email at elizabeth@thathomeschoolfamily.com.

OH, one last thing! We totally love working together with other businesses to do reviews, partnerships, etc. If you thinking That Homeschool Family could be the perfect fit for a project your business is working on, definitely send an email and I’ll get back to you!
